Created entirely from wool, this artwork combines bold colour with a soft, tactile surface that invites a closer look. Layers of natural fibre create depth and movement, while the scattered blooms evoke the feeling of flowers growing freely, spilling across garden borders and swaying gently in the breeze.
Part of the Softly Wild collection, Wild Primrose reflects my love of translating the beauty of nature into wool. Inspired by wandering through gardens in peak season, the piece celebrates those fleeting moments when everything is in bloom and colour seems to fill every corner.
Created using traditional wet felting techniques, layers of Cheviot and Merino wool are carefully arranged by hand before being transformed through water, soap and movement into a permanent textile artwork. This slow and tactile process allows the fibres to naturally bind together, creating rich textures, subtle depth and organic details that cannot be replicated through paint alone.
